Introduction

Increasingly, financial institutions and their banking partners are looking to implement XML-based solute ions to address the complexities of corporate banking needs, while also taking advantage of all of the benefits that network environments offer - whether it be internet, intranet or extranet based. The Business Banking service of the Interactive Financial eXchange (ITS-IFX) standard is an XML-based message set that has been designed to do both.

ITS-IFX for Business Banking is designed to be used across various types of applications - from internal systems communications of business banking data-to-data integration across many companies by automatically integrating data from trading partners into internal enterprise systems.

Ultimately, the goal of the ITS-IFX for Business Banking service is to create a standard that will allow companies to interact more effectively with each other and accomplish end-to- end e-commerce.

ITS has implemented this concept in the banking industry by building an ITS-IFX adaptor to integrate between the core banking systems and any delivery channel that use this core banking system.

Simply, the adaptor’s role is to provide back end systems services with standard ITS-IFX format, but it is not responsible for adding any new features to the back end systems.

The ultimate goal is to have a SOA “service oriented architecture” banking solution.
