Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning (PACP)
Service Description
The Sun Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning (PACP) Services: are designed to help customers improve utilization of current IT assets by better understanding performance and capacity needs. There are two service components:
Performance Analysis: The Performance Analysis service leverages proven methodologies and best practices to evaluate performance by conducting server inventories, identifying configurations (including patch compliance), and measuring a variety of performance metrics. Data such as CPU, memory, disk, and network card utilization is collected over a period of time and then analyzed to characterize performance and identify potential problems and areas of congestion. Collect inventory and configuration information (including missing patches)
Capacity Planning: Using the data collected during the performance analysis, Sun measures the growth potential of existing servers based on current workload profiles, expected growth, and business changes. Sun’s capacity planning experts model the system and determine hardware alternatives by testing various “what-if” scenarios.
The services and related toolsets can run on both Sun and non-Sun hardware and operating systems such as Linux or Microsoft Windows.
